Kia ora! My name is Dr. Elese B Dowden and I am an academic philosopher and freelance copy editor based in Melbourne, Australia. My original home is Tāmaki Makaurau, Aotearoa (New Zealand).

My current research interests include Albert Camus studies, forgiveness and apology, settler colonial studies, gender, popular culture, existentialism, ethics, and the philosophy of trauma and affect. I have an MA in Philosophy from the University of Auckland, and a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Queensland.

In my view, the best kinds of philosophy are both inclusive and grounded in real-world application. Given that most philosophers are lucky to have had good access to education, I believe that we have a duty towards our communities to improve the worlds we live in.

When I'm not doing philosophy, you can likely find me cooking for the people I love, or tending to my plants.
